Love Spain, love Spanish food, don’t love how long we have
to wait between meals. For breakfast we have one piece of toast, one piece of
fruit, and one glass of juice. The best days are when we have zumo de melocotón
(peach). Lunch isn’t until after school at 3 o’clock. How do we make it through
the school day? We don’t know. Hanger is real in Spain.

PTL for siestas. Hands down one of our favorite parts of
Spanish culture. However, the problem with this is that you get part of your
sleep at night and the other part during your nap. But we don’t know if naps
count for the night before or for the upcoming night; needless to say, it
leaves us tired at strange hours of the day.
Speaking of siestas, yesterday we woke up to the sound of a
new voice in Paseo de Canalejas. We had the great pleasure of meeting Vega: the
cute-as-a-button, Spanish-speaking, five year old sobrina (niece) of Flori.
Vega eats very well at her aunt’s house and we benefit from her being here as
well. Ice cream before dinner, every girls dream. After eating we played a card
game that only she knew the rules to and since her Spanish is better than ours,
she had the clear advantage. Regardless, it was a lot of fun and we got this
cute selfie out of it. Vega, you can come back anytime you want.
